HP Omen 15: a graphical powerhouse

Are you looking for a laptop that can handle any program you throw at it? With this HP powerhouse, you’ll break the boundaries of laptop performance. The HP Omen 15-dc1621nd has specifications that’ll make other laptops bite the dust. If you are looking for a laptop with a lot of graphical computing power, this laptop is the holy grail. Thanks to the Intel Core i7 processor in combination with the NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card, a 1 TB hard disk and the 512 GB SSD, working with programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and InDesign and playing the latest games becomes a piece of cake.

The NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card, with a 6 GB memory, is one of the best cards currently available in a laptop. This doesn’t just make the laptop capable of handling heavy programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro or 3ds Max, but it can also play your favourite games with the highest frame rate. The laptop is also suitable for VR, so experience a game in an entirely digitally rendered universe. And thanks to the new fan design, the laptop stays cool under the toughest conditions.

Watch your favourite Netflix series on the 15.6-inch Full HD screen. The matte finish eliminates that annoying glare. So simply take the laptop outside or finish your work in the garden. With IPS technology, there is a large viewing angle of almost 180 degrees and bright, clear colours.

It is possible to connect up to three external monitors thanks to the HDMI 2.0A with HDR support in combination with a USB-C and Mini DisplayPort should you want to work with multiple screens at a time, to make editing photos and videos, playing games or creating 3D designs a lot easier and overseeable.

Unique to the HP Omen series is the Omen Command Center, included in HP Omen laptops. The Omen Command Center is ideal for personalising and optimising your laptop experience by adjusting different configurations. For example, increasing the ventilation speed with the Turbo Fan Mode for even better performance. The laptop comes standard with a Dragon-Red keyboard with background lighting. Do you want more colours on the keyboard? Via the Command Center, the colours can be set for four different keyboard areas*.

* only available for keyboard configurations with four zones

Windows 10 Home is already installed so you can get started in a trusted environment. In addition, the Dual-band Wi-Fi ensures better wireless range and higher speeds.

Great laptop and good for gaming

  • Good graphics
  • Impressive Gaming Look
  • Very fast
  • Battery Life
  • Heat

Hi guys,I have recently just purchased this laptop and received it less than a week ago. I thought i'd put up this general review as I couldn't find many when I was searching before I purchased it. I seen some good reviews of last years models so decided to bite the bullet and purchase this. This laptop has far surpassed my expectations and it runs extremely smooth. I mainly purchased this laptop to play games and I have tested some of the latest games such as The Witcher, Tomb Raider, Guuld Wars 2 and it runs them without a peep.Graphics:The actual graphics for videos, movies and gaming was quite impressive. It ran games at a really good FPS and there was no lag at all. I watched a movie or two just to test it out and it was like a mini cinema screen. I am quite happy with the 15.6 inch screen over the 17inch.Layout:The actual layout of this laptop is really nice. It has a good professional look on the outside and is very nice to feel. It is not made from cheap plastic which some lower budget models are made from. The keyboard is fantastic as you can alter the light setup and the function keys are pretty handy to have on the top. There is a program you get with this called the 'Omen Command Center' and it shows you your the laptops performance settings and also allows you to alter settings for the laptop i.e. the layout. Heat/Fans:One thing I will say to people out there is that when the laptop charger is pulled in while gaming it does cause it to generate a lot of heat from the charging pack as well as the laptop itself. I would recommend people to invest in a cooling pad (They are generally about 30 euros) as this should help to keep the heat down. This is generally an occurence with gaming laptops around this price range so don't let it put you off. The CPU was reaching heights of 80C when playing with the charger in but when it was fully charged it was wonderfully diferent as it reached heights of 50C so this is a major difference. I am yet to test this out with a cooling pad that I have ordered. Battery:The battery life can vary depending on what you are doing as the laptop itself has 3 settings (Battery saver mode, Better performance mode & Best performance). For gaming on full performance you could get maybe 1hr to 1hr 30 mins at a time which isn't great but it is be expected. You could maybe get 3hrs to 4 hrs by just using it for day to day stuff (Maybe more as this is just a guess).Overall, I am very happy with this product so far. I would give it 4 to 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only drawback is the battery life and the heat generated while gaming.
