2010-01-15Reviewer: michael hoganThis chip is better than the new I-7 975 running at 3.33mhz that costs 800 euro this chip is the same chip only the clock speed is turned down to 2.66 thats how intel sells them and thats how they rip you off just buy any X58 board and you can control the speed yourself. This chip with any X58 board and a desent cooler will go to 4.0 mhz easy but you must get a proper cooler the new Zalman CNPS 10X Extreme is the best cooler you can get today. This I-7 920 with a Zalman CNPS 10X and a ASUS P6T or ASUS RAMPAGE 2 or EVGA X58 with any DDR3 memory and you will have the fastest computer in the world you become a member of the Computer Elite a true Overclocker.

2009-11-16Reviewer: NicknameI think that this CPU is really the best you can get for this price. It runs so smoothly. I first ran it downclocked to 1.5GHz and it was still awesome. Now I just have it running on turbo mode. With a Titan Fenrir cooler I have yet to breech the 40 Degree C mark. It may be a lower clock speed than some Core 2 Duo's, but it seems to run a lot faster anyways.

2009-04-13Reviewer: PhilThis is an amazing Processor. Manged to overclock it to 4.2 on water. Took some time to get used to the new Bios on x58 motherboards but it was worth the time and effort. got this with a 4870x2 and 3 gig ddr3 and its eating games for breakfast. Be warned it runs very hot on air so overclocking with water is the best way to go.

2009-01-09Reviewer: Denis MorrinQuality cpu.
Built an i7 rig as a christmas present to myself. Coupled to 4 gigs [soon to be 6 for tri-channel] of 1066 ddr3 and a 4870, she's bloody awesome.
Running @ 2.8 on the stock cooler; komplett still dont have new hs for the i7s :( I had it @ 3ghz and temps were a little high but stable.
@ 3.2 it rolled over twice on me so I left it at 2.8 until I can change the cooler.
afaik, x58 mobos should be dropping in price now that theres more competition? I had a choice of 2 in Nov.
Well worth the upgrade; loves the games I'm throwing at it; ripping avis, converting hd mkvs...fantastic cpu.
