2009-06-25Reviewer: Web Reservations InternationalGreat price/value ratio (at least for the current market and other offers).
I have been using ~20 of such disks in various configurations (as a single disk, but software and hardware raid configurations as well) for about a year already with no issues whatsoever.
One important remark only: be sure to visit Seagate's "serial number check utility" (https://apps1.seagate.com/rms_af_srl_chk/) to test whether disk's firmware requires upgrade (google "seagate 7200.11" in case you need more details on the firmware issue).

2008-11-16Reviewer: Micheal TiarnaighBought 2 of these, and having big problems with them so far. SeaGate denying any "issues" with the drive, but yet they seem to freeze at random intervals. The issues are well documented online on SlashDot, Amazon, and multiple other sites. Even on Seagate's own forum:
http://stx.lithium.com/stx/board/message?board.id=ata_drives&message.id=3017#M3017
I would advise against purchasing these until Seagate acknowledge these issues, and release an official fix. So far, there is nothing announced for this........

2008-11-07Reviewer: Mav...not so good for system installation. New design brings this version of Barracuda more dense platters, 4x375GB instead of 4x250. This is clearly visible, drive achieves more constant speed across all available space. Unfortunately, access time is longer than in previous version, so I wouldn't recommend it as a system disk. Very good for HD content storing, though. Below sample screens from HDTach:

Barracuda 1TB: http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/9582/hdtachseagate1000gbwj7.png
PS: The real capacity reported by windblows is 1.36TB (1497GB), so don't be surprised.
