Not sure..

Like the previous reviewer, I was curious for a long time about this one, finally said I'd give it a go. Would agree witht he comments about being easy to shape and apply. One thing that might suprize you is the weight of this product (means its good?), the 3 sheets are surprisingly heavy. I applied it to an Antec Performance One P180B Miditower and actually ran out. Having said that, the P180 is a very big tower and I put it everywhere I could. One and a bit sheets were taken up on each side pannel and what was left of the 3rd sheet i put on the top, back and bottom of the case and a little on the front, but its mainly an area I can't cover due to vent holes and the way the case is designed. So does it work? Well I think it actually did help to some degree, I don't think it was wonderful, I think there will always be limits to the effectiveness of this product as long as we still need to leave open ventalation holes, particularly at the front and back of the PC. If you want a quiet PC the best thing you can do is buy quiet components to begin with, its very difficult to silence noisy parts later. The tower I was using probably wasn't the most suitable type for this product as the front of it is very difficult to insulate for sound. Overall I think there was a slight improvement but not a huge one (I have quietest components I could find anyway). My advice for anyone on a new build, put the money you'd spend on this into quieter components. If you already have your PC built, then you might want to try this, i imagine results will be very mixed depending on how and where you can apply it given your case design. So as you can see I'm a bit on the fence on this one, but it is by no means a bad product, I like Nexus stuff, its generally very good. If its just your HDD noise driving you mad, I'd recommend http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=311513 made by nexus too, they are very effective imo. Hope that helps.

Get one step closer to a quiet(er) system...

42007-07-11Reviewer: William

Curiosity got the better of me, prompted me to buy this and try it out - It's not the type of product I've ever heard of or tried before, so this really was a venture into new territory. Basically the package contains 3 very large sheets of the (foam & rubber(?)) fire resistant, self-adhesive material to line the inside of the PC case. Very easy to cut, shape and apply, also easy to remove and re-apply if necessary. Does it actually work? That's a yes! Although I can still hear the air going through 3 120mm case fans, that's all I hear. I no longer hear any hdd activity at all (particularly during seek times) - That alone made this worth it for me. Other than that, everything was pretty quiet before applying this anyway. I used less than two sheets on a high tower, so there's really enough for 2 midi towers and it can be reused too. Good job again, Nexus!
